Several thousand people squeezed through the ballon arch and crossed the start line as the bag pipes played. We had begun the 3 mile journey around the closed Naval base on Treasure Island in the middle of the San Francisco bay. It was magnificent to see the good spirits and high hopes of those that were walking the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk. Many had t-shirts with photos of loved ones afflicted by Alzheimer’s or other forms of Dementia. Hundred’s of thousands of dollars had been donated for both research and care to aid those with this terrible desease. I was touched by the warm feelings of those around me as walked around the island.
Barbara and I raised $2,186 for this worthy cause. I received many supportive messages from friends with loved ones with Alzheimer’s. Thanks and best wishes go to all those that supported us with their donations.
