Four books, one system

The Journaling Mastery Series

From scattered pages to a practice that holds

Most journals die in February. The pages fill for a fortnight, the entries thin out, and the notebook goes in a drawer with the good intentions still in it.

The Journaling Mastery Series treats that as a design problem rather than a failure of will. Two core guides build the practice, one from the ground up and one for turning it on real goals. Two companion guides go further: one for reading a year of entries back, one for reading the patterns underneath them.

Every book rests on the same principle. There is no wrong way to journal, so the job is to find the way that fits your life and then make it survive contact with an ordinary week.

Book one, the foundation

The Art of Journaling

A Comprehensive Guide to Writing a Journal

There is no single correct way to journal, and this book spends its length proving it.

Also available at Amazon and other fine bookstores.

Book two, the application

Write Your Way

A Comprehensive Guide to Personal Growth and Self-Expression Through Journaling

You have thought about journaling. You just never knew what to write.

Also available at Amazon and other fine bookstores.

Book three, the Write Your Way companion

The Year-End Reflection Guide

A Write Your Way Journaling Bonus

A year of entries is not the same as a year of insight. This guide closes the gap.

Also available at Amazon and other fine bookstores.

Book four, the Art of Journaling companion

Advanced Pattern Recognition

An Art of Journaling Bonus Guide

Your journal has been telling you the same thing for years. This teaches you to hear it.

Also available at Amazon and other fine bookstores.

What readers say

Where to start

New to journaling. Start with The Art of Journaling. It assumes nothing and covers choosing a notebook through to what to do when the page stays blank.

You have tried before and it did not stick. Start with Write Your Way. Its seven-day Quick Start Guide is built for exactly that reader, and the habit work is the point rather than an afterthought.

You already journal and want more from it. The two companions stand alone. The Year-End Reflection Guide turns a year of entries into something you can act on. Advanced Pattern Recognition teaches you to read the themes running underneath them.

Then there are the prompts

The Mastery Series teaches you how to journal. The Journaling Prompts Series hands you two hundred things to write about, sorted so you can pick by the kind of day you are having.

Where the practice continues

Between books, the writing carries on at Journaling Insights, a site of techniques, prompts and how-to guides for building a practice that survives an ordinary week. It is the working notebook these books came out of.
